What is Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus？
■ A tiny Yokai hero races through a vibrant Japanese-inspired world!
2D action game inspired by Japanese folklore!
"Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus" is inspired by Japanese folklore, creating a colourful 2D action game world with a hand-drawn style.
Players take on the role of a tiny yokai named Bō, embarking on an adventure to resolve the crisis facing a unique world inhabited by fantastic creatures. Use a mystical staff to gracefully glide through the air as you explore the world and challenge powerful monsters. Encounter strange (and strangely adorable) yokai as you guide Bō on his journey, unravelling the mysteries that await.
■ A strange and wonderful world of yokai
"Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus" is set in a Strange Garden inhabited by yokai from Japanese mythology and folklore, featuring themes like "The Tengu Trio" and "The Fox Wedding".
Bō will journey to different places such as the Forest of the Crimson Bamboo where the Usagi Clan resides, the Midori Forest, home of the Kitsune Clan, and the prosperous city of yokai, "Sakura City". Along his journey, a unique menagerie of yokai will eagerly assist you at the City Forge and Ramen Shop, among other colourful locales.
■ Attack gracefully in the air!
One key feature is the Hit ＆ Flow mechanic, which allows you to refresh your jump or dash by attacking enemies or objects in the air.
By jumping multiple times in the air, you can reach normally inaccessible locations, or gracefully maneuver in mid-air while avoiding enemy attacks. Learn new actions as the adventure progresses to expand your range of exploration.
■ Boil the tea kettle and unleash daruma!
Performing continuous combos in the air causes the tea kettle in the top left corner to boil, replenishing and powering up your items. When your health is almost depleted, you can drink tea from the kettle to recover. Additionally, Bō can find 8 powerful Daruma, along with special Omamori that provide enhanced attack speed, providing yet more assistance on his journey.
■ Unique mechanics and mighty bosses await!
Each area is filled with unique mechanics that obstruct Bō's path. From raging snowstorms in the mountains to collapsing bridges and dense thorny paths, seemingly impassable areas can be overcome by using actions or exploring other areas.
Within the depths of each area await yokai with formidable powers. Players will only be able to overcome these foes through ceaseless practice and by using every tool at their disposal, but do not lose heart―profound satisfaction awaits on the other side.
