In the city of "Kowlong", where gruesome incidents caused by the Slitterhead occurred, people struggle to survive. Introducing Anita and Michelle, two ladies living in this chaotic and bustling place, and the Rarity , Edo, who is a drifter that battles the Slitterhead in his daily life.
【Anita】
A prostitute working for the prostitution ring run by the criminal organization "Golden Qilin". She was always somewhat of an outsider among her peers, but recently, her personality has drastically changed. With a cold, expressionless face, she has become a subject of suspicion among the other prostitutes.
【Michelle】
The manager of the nightclub "Moon Flower", who also serves as the head of the prostitution ring. She is well-respected by her subordinates, who affectionately call her "Sister" due to her caring nature. Lately, she has been worried about Anita, whose behavior has become erratic.
【Edo】
A homeless man living around the bustling streets with his dog. He was once involved in the glamorous world of the entertainment industry but refuses to talk about how he ended up in his current situation.
【Deflect All】
▲ Edo’s active skill. Automatically performs the "Deflect" move, which repels enemy attacks. It activates from a defensive stance while the skill effect is in play.
【Angel Step】
▲ Edo’s active skill. A movement-based evasive skill. It covers more distance and speed than a normal evade, allowing Edo to attack at any moment during evade or circle behind the enemy.
【Burning Edge】
▲ Edo’s common skill. Massively increases attack power for a short time, but the increase will come at a significant cost to blood blade durability.
■Combat Details
【Blood Weapons】
The Hyoki can generate Blood Weapons by consuming the blood of the human it has possessed. Press the attack button to strike enemies, and pressing it repeatedly to unleash a combo of continuous attacks. While the weapon is equipped, the guard button can block most enemy attacks, and from there, you can chain into a powerful attack. However, blocking too many attacks will cause the Blood Weapon to break, and each time this happens, a small amount of blood is lost.
【Combat Using Possession】
When an enemy attack lowers your energy, you can avoid danger by possessing another human. The bodies of civilians are fragile and die easily, so when you can't defend or evade a series of attacks or grappling moves, the key strategy is to abandon your body and switch to another nearby human. Even Rarities, which are far stronger than civilians, find it difficult to defeat the Slitterhead alone. By actively possessing people around you, you can combine everyone's strength to fight against Slitterhead and overcome various challenges.
【Deflect and Evade】
You can deflect enemy attacks, rendering them ineffective. A guide will appear just before the enemy strikes, and if you time it correctly by pushing the control stick in the indicated direction, you'll successfully deflect the attack. A successful deflect causes the enemy to lose their stance, creating an opportunity to counterattack. Additionally, each time you successfully deflect, the Blood Weapon's durability will be restored. However, some enemy attacks won't display a guide and cannot be deflected. In these cases, you'll need to use the evade button to evade or use possession to avoid the attack.
【Blood Time】
Successfully deflecting attacks activates Blood Time. During Blood Time, the time slows down, allowing you to unleash a flurry of attacks on your enemies. Additionally, performing a possession during Blood Time extends the time limit, giving you the chance to quickly turn the tide of battle if used effectively.
■ Progress through missions, engage in conversations with key characters during Intermissions
The game progresses by selecting missions and choosing the main Rarity and its companion to take on each mission. The basic objective is to search for, track down, and defeat the Slitterheads lurking in each stage. However, the missions vary in type, with some focusing on combat and others centered around stealth investigations. The order in which you challenge missions and the combination of Rarities is largely up to the player, allowing for freedom in finding effective pairings by considering the compatibility of each Rarity's skills.
Once a mission is completed, the game transitions to the intermission, where you can interact with your companion Rarities, upgrade them, or change their costumes. Conversations with these Rarities are particularly important to unlock new missions.
■Stage Overview
Each mission features unique stages, ranging from open streets to buildings where you must avoid surveillance. "Mong Tsui", a city where not only Slitterheads disguised as humans are lurking, but the people walking on the streets are also suspicious and dangerous.
【Mong Tsui】
An entertainment district located in the centre of Kowlong, also known as the "Sleepless Zone". Behind the dazzling neon signs lining the main streets, criminal organizations and prostitution rings operate in the shadows, making this chaotic and sleazy area one of the most dangerous parts of the city.
The bodiless "Hyoki" hunts down the brain-devouring "Slitterheads", lurking in the alleys of a neon-lit city
Set in the densely cluttered streets of "Kowlong," filled with obscurity and chaos, this battle action-adventure game casts players as the "Hyoki," an entity devoid of memory and physical form. His only motive is to eradicate the monstrous beings known as "Slitterheads" crawling around the city, disguising themselves as humans. Roaming the vibrant neon-lit cityscape, players must seek out allies among humans known as "Rarities," infiltrate and track dangerous organizations, and engage in battles harnessing the power of blood. As the suspenseful drama unfolds, delve into the mystery behind Hyoki's existence and the appearance of the Slitterheads.
